Your health insurance

Everyone who lives or works in the Netherlands is legally obligated to take out health insurance. Health insurers reimburse a large part of the costs of hospital care. You will always pay a compulsory deductible however.

Are you going to the hospital soon? Then you must be insured.

Compulsory deductible

Take into account the compulsory deductible and the amount of your policy's deductible. Because of this, there is also the chance that you will have to pay (part of) your invoice yourself! To be on the safe side, contact your health insurer in advance and inquire about the conditions for reimbursement. You can find more information about the deductible on the central government's website

Not insured in the Netherlands

The Netherlands has made international agreements with a number of countries concerning the provision of medical care to people who are staying in our country temporarily.
